Penzance sits at the very south west tip of England in beautiful Mounts Bay, dominated by St Michael's Mount, in an area well known for Celtic culture.  It began as a small fishing community and is now a vibrant market town with an interesting history.  As befits the 'capital' of west Cornwall, being the main commercial centre of the Land's End peninsula, there are many good shops, restaurants, museums and galleries to enjoy on forays ashore.

Along with nearby Newlyn, Penzance is the most westerly secure harbour in mainland England and provides a good starting point for cruises to the Isles of Scilly or for rounding Land's End.  There are reasonable facilities here for visitors and a proposed new marina development will increase the number of available berths and improve services in this area.
