Whitehaven started out as a small fishing village on the north west Cumbrian coast and is now an attractive Georgian town with an interesting history encompassing ship building, trading and coal mining.  The harbour provides excellent facilities for local and visiting craft following a successful regeneration scheme.

Whitehaven has a particularly scenic location with views across the Solway Firth to south west Scotland and a backdrop of the Lake District National Park.  To tempt you to stay a while, a wide selection of independent shops, bars and restaurants are all within easy reach of the harbour.
