Liverpool's stunning waterfront, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the iconic ferries across the Mersey are the first things you see as you approach by boat and they are representative of a city with so much to offer you should plan to stay awhile.  They don't do things by halves here either, with not one but two cathedrals and two premiership football teams.

You can learn all about Liverpool's rich maritime history at the Maritime Museum in Albert Dock, which is also the largest collection of Grade 1 listed buildings in the UK.  There is a strong musical tradition too, that continues to this day, from the Beatles to The Zutons and many other well known bands, the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and music festivals throughout the year. The 2008 Capital of Culture wasn't a one off either - the city's theatres, museums and galleries continue to offer a rich cultural calendar.   If all that isn't enough, you can shop 'til you drop at Liverpool One, eat out in one of the many excellent restaurants in the city and experience Liverpool's legendary nightlife in the numerous clubs and bars.

There is really only one place to stay for visiting craft, at Liverpool Marina, which is accessed via a lock into Brunswick Dock just south of the city centre and Albert Dock.  Despite its proximity to the city centre, the marina is in a quiet location with berthing for boats of all shapes and sizes.  There are facilities here for spares and repairs and the marina has its own restaurant and bar if you don't want to take the short trip into the city centre.
